KMail import from Thunderbird

Anyone else having problems trying to import e-mails from Thunderbird
to KMail? The Thunderbird setup has multiple sub-folders, KMail's
import routine seems to import the first sub-tree only and then hangs.
The messages are all there in KMail from that first sub-tree, but then
nothing happens. According to KSysGuard the import process is still
getting plenty of CPU cycles (like about 70% of a 1.8 GHz P4), and
I've left it running over night to find no further progress the
following morning. There's no sign of the hard drive being accessed,
looks to me like the program gets stuck in a loop somewhere. KMail
1.9.9/KDE 3.5.9 using Mandriva 2008. The PC has 2.5GB of memory, and
it's not making any significant use of the swap file.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks,

Brian.

I don't see how it can be related. This bug seems to deal with
renaming problems *after* the folders have been imported. I can't get
them to import successfully.

<paste>

Use 'Import Messages...' to import Thunderbird messages.
**When imported**, right-click on imported messages folder.

</paste> (I added the emphasis)

Do you have large attachments in your Thunderbird email? I had one
email with a 40MB zip file that I had to erase in order to import with
Kmail. But that was a few versions back.

Try copying your ~/.mozilla-thunderbird/***.default/Mail/Local\
Folders into a separate directory, and import the subsubdirectories
piecemeal.

Well, that's certainly a possibility. I'll have to try to work out
exactly which folder is causing the problems, because the import
certainly doesn't appear to be in alphabetical order at the top level,
and the problem seems to come after the first sub-tree has been
imported.

OK, that's certainly worth a try, better than having to export the
Thunderbird e-mails then re-import them as plain mbx files, or worse
yet, after converting them to maildirs.

I'll give it a whirl later today.

Thanks for the hints.
