Hi all,

I just realized that Kontact/Kmail had problem in accessing my gmail accounts. I actually removed one of my gmail accounts and tried to add it back with no avail. Kmail claims that I (the user) rejected wallet access; however I was never prompted for it. Please see attached console output from akonadi if it helps.

Thanks for the input.

Try removing the resource completely from akonadi. It seems something went wrong when creating the resource while it was getting access from Google. I'm guessing some cached data might still exist.

If this does not work, try doing a full reset if you're willing to reconfigure everything. I do this when ever my setup goes bonkers.

There's a thread somewhere on this list about what to delete when doing a full reset. PErhaps we should write a wiki page on that.

Make sure your Authentication is not set to GMAIL - mine uses PLAIN in order to work.

In my case “auto detect" and “Authentication” are greyed out so I cant change
anything. Even the password is greyed out (there are only lots of dots
visible) so that I'm not able to retype the PW.

How to change that? Or do I have to d

As far as I know it shouldn't be greyed out, are your user name and password set up okay for that account? Settings/Configure Kmail/Accounts/Receiving/Advanced is where they should be enabled.
There is a situation where you might get a dialog from Google asking to allow Akonadi access to your google account, i made the mistake of accepting that and then thats when i stopped getting emails. I then went to my google account via webmail and remove Akonadi from the permitted apps and then set my Authentication to PLAIN and its worked fine since.

If I do not allow Akonadi to access Google, no connection will be made.
I then went to my google
account via webmail and remove Akonadi from the permitted apps and then set
my Authentication to PLAIN and its worked fine since.
If I remove Akonadi from allowed apps, the connection will be aborted.
This also affects the gmail account on my laptop. To reconnect to gmail I have
to delete gmail in kmail and set it up again, and allow Akonadi access.
It is not enough if I only do it on the computer on which I originally had
Akonadi's rights.

Maybe this is a Kubuntu

According to my Google settings, the Akondai permission was in place on May 10th (that must have been a silent setting up as i didn't do anything) and it was working fine until I got the Dialog requesting permission a few days ago and that, i guess, must have changed the Authentication to GMAIL.
To be honest i don't know what the real problem is/was but it did seem related to accepting the google permission dialog but I managed to get it to work and its not asked for permission since.

No, I think that's normal. Google registers Akonadi as an allowed app centrally, and then hands over some kind of certificate to the Akonadi instance. Thus, revoking access at the google end breaks things on all clients, and when you reestablish Akonadi as an allowed app, a new certificate will be created tha
